Topic points

The meeting centered on two interconnected initiatives: (1) developing a browser-based virtual build tool for immersive spatial audio, and (2) establishing a traveling program of curated performances across member listening spaces. The group discussed technical standards for virtual lab representation, including ambisonic workflows, custom decoders, coordinate conversion tools, and Gaussian splatting for detailed room reconstruction. A technical subgroup was formed to define shared protocols for room scanning, data capture, and interoperability.

In parallel, members began outlining a framework for a 2027 traveling circuit, with potential collaborations including NOTAM, BEAST, ID3A (Venice), Chicago Laboratory for Acoustic Theater, and other international partners. To support both initiatives, members will contribute documentation of their studios (technical specs, tools, skills, and images) to build a shared resource. The meeting concluded with plans to formalize subgroup meetings, develop mission and framework documents, and identify funding and institutional partnerships to sustain the consortium’s long-term work.
